Safe Diving in Backyard Pools – DiveSeattle’s Tips

Safe Diving in BackYard Pools always requires knowing the rules. The homeowner of a backyard pool is responsible to let you know the “house” rules and should be followed for safety purposes. Diving is fun and we like to keep it that way ๐Ÿ™‚

With summer pools opening and kids getting back on the diving boards, here is a great little video with Mary Ellen Clark on SAFE DIVING in backyard pools…. and here in Seattle should include LAKE DIVING. Always check the depth to the botom before entering a pool or lake head first.

One thing we would like to add to the video is that divers should always keep their eyes open under water to protect themselves from steering too close to the bottom, to a object on the bottom (or a person) and to always protect the head by covering the head with the arms and grabbing the hands, not like a racing dive, but by using a hand-grab and flat palm entry.
